Our Journey
Beforepay Group was established with the creation of Beforepay, a customer-first lender providing affordable, short-term credit to working Australians. At the time, many short-term credit options were expensive and poorly aligned to customer outcomes. We set out to build products designed to support financial wellbeing, grounded in disciplined risk management.
In 2020, Beforepay launched its flagship product, Pay Advance, powered by an advanced credit risk model built on cash flow data. The model enabled safe, affordable lending at scale, with a high degree of automation and strong risk controls.
In 2024, we launched Carrington Labs to bring our cash flow underwriting and credit risk modeling capabilities to banks and non-bank lenders. Built on years of real-world lending experience and production-tested models, Carrington Labs delivers explainable, transaction-based risk insights that integrate into existing credit workflows, supporting underwriting, limit sizing, and portfolio management.
That same year, Beforepay Group achieved its first full year of profitability, demonstrating the durability and discipline of the risk foundations underpinning both businesses.
